Importance of Pranayama



Doing pranayama is just controlling the breath. An average person takes his or her breath 17,280 to 23,040 times a day. Breathing is the vital energy of human beings. Only when a person is lifting heavy loads takes his breath by sitting in a corner. At the same time, controlling the breath and relieving the breath after some seconds are gaining power to the body. In general nobody is doing this breathing exercise. Of course even other exercises are made by the people, but an important exercise is only breathing exercise. If a person does this exercise once in a day he would be feeling much better and he would be brisk in the mind and body. 


In the Hinduism this exercise is taught even for the children while studying at the schools. But in the bhramin community this exercise is compulsory for three times a day. While doing sandiyavanthanam this exercise is done by the bhramin community. After wearing the holly thread on the shoulders, every bhramin boy should have to do this sandiyavanthanam. This is basically worshipping the lord Vishnu or Shiva three times in a day. The sandiyavanthanam is rendered with the Gayathri manthra. The gayathri manthra should have to be said in the mind by controlling the breath. This exercise is good for the heart; actually a person doing this Pranyama is giving rest for the heart, because this part of the human is working all the twenty four hours without rest. One should take his breath from one side of the nose and release the breath in the other side of the nose, after controlling the breath for one to five minutes. This is an easy exercise to do by anyone and that is the reason religion is teaching a person to do this pranayama.

Many people think pranayama is belongs to Hindu community, actually this is health exercise. In fact, complete breathing exercise once a person is doing this exercise he would not get the heart problem. This pranayama meant only for the heart problem. In present days even thirty five years old man is affected by the heart attack, and unfortunately he passes away, but if the same person is doing this exercise regularly it is sure he would be living in the world at least for 60 years. 

The reason is he is giving some exercise to his heart, so the heart functional would be good enough for him.

Apart from religion and sex both men and women can do this exercise, of course, in yoga classes, teacher is teaching this exercise for all his students, because this most important and effective exercise to the body and mind. Mind will be also pleasant after doing the pranayama exercise which is bringing peace to the mind and calmness to the body and the soul of the person. A person is taking plenty of thousands time his breath, controlling the breath for the less minutes increases the lungs capacity that is scientific fact, earlier our forefathers found this art for all of us.
