Nagoore
Dargah is a famous pilgrim center for both Muslims and Hindus. This is called
as Syed Shahul Hameed Dargah this is also called as Nagore Andavar dargha. This
dargah is located in Nagore town of Tamil Nadu state. The outer doors are
always open. Inside doors opening time is from early morning 4.30 am to 7 am
and 6.25 pm to 9.30 pm. On Fridays it is an open 12 noon to 2.30 pm. It is
believed Shahul Hamid have performed many miracles in the Nagore town. The
special miracle is said to be that he has cured the physical affliction of the
King Achutappa Nayak he is
Hindu ruler of this place in the 16th
century. Based on the devotion of Shahul
Hamid, many Hindus also contributed their money along with the Muslims to
construct this Nagore Andavar temple. Nagore andaver gives meaning ruler of the
Nagore. Five huge minarets in this dargah all these would be pleasing the
visitors and devotees. The dargah is maintained by a committee which is
operating all the administration here under the scheme decreed by the Chennai
High court of Tamil Nadu.
There is a
festival conducted here at this dargha, it is called Kanduri festival and this
festival is conducted for fourteen day, it is death anniversary of Shahul
Hamid. The worship will be common as Hindus with the musical instruments
accompanied with the Nadaswaram, this kind of worship cannot be seen in any
other Muslim places excepting this Nagore dargha. This place is just five kilo
meters away from the Nagapattinam town. Once a person entered to this place he
has to pay ticket charges to sit before the buried place of the saint Shahul
Hamid, later there will be more Muslim workers in the dargha will pray for the
person, if the person is even a Hindu religious person.
But the
workers here at the dargha are demanding more money from the visitors all the
visitors are complaining about asking money harassment. At the same time the
official entrance fee for each counter is only ten rupees. The saint Shahul
hamid is also famous as Quadir Wali or Quadir baba. This Nagore dargha is
housed in the five acres of land, and it is covered with the compound wall.
When Shaul Hamid cured the king Achutappa Nayak health problem, the king
donated him two hundred acres of land to encourage the saint Shahul Hamid.
The devotees
of both Hindu and Muslims believe, once they pray here at this place all their
problems are solving with the blessings of the saint Shahul Hamid. There will
be always permanent crowd at this place, because this is the only place people
get remedy for all their physical and financial problems. Once the prayer is
fulfilled naturally the devotee comes back to thank the saint Shahul hamid and
they donate their money to the dargha with the happiness. During the festival
time thousands of people will be visiting every year, the best transport
facilities are offered to this place from the government of Tamil Nadu.
