Hinduism A Glance




Legends of the world believe properly Hinduism started in between 2300 BC to 1500 B.C. Hinduism has no single founder but instead a union of various beliefs. Hinduism is the world’s very oldest religion. Many scholars and legends say it is old about four thousand years. Now nine hundred million followers are following the Hinduism. This is the third-largest religion behind Christianity and Islam. Approximately ninety-five percent of the total world Hindus lives in India. The reason is Hindu religion has no exact founder. It is very difficult to find Hinduism origins and history. Hinduism is a unique religion and it is not a single religion but collection of plenty of traditions and with the different philosophies. 

This Hindu religion is embracing many religious ideas. This can be referred to as a way of life. This can be even called a family of religions. Hinduism is henotheistic which gives meaning Hindus worship a single deity. This deity is known as Brahma Hindu followers believe there are many paths to reaching their god or goddess.


Hindus have believed in the doctrine of samsara which is called total life from birth to death.  The main goal is to achieve MOKSHA or this could be said as salvation. Which is ending the cycle of births, to become a part of the absolute soul, Hindus struggle to achieve DHARMA which gives meaning code of living with the good conduct and with the morality. Hindus follow the following texts Rig Veda, Sama Veda, Yajur Veda, and the Atharvana Veda.
Hindus believe that the Vedas are trail all the time and there is no end or beginning. Bhagavad Gita and eighteen histories of the Gods mainly Ramayana and Mahabharatha are very important texts of the Hinduism. In the modern Hindu history, Hinduism lasted from 500 to 1500 A.D. Poets and saints recovered the spiritual sentiments during this time. In the 7th century when Muslim began invading areas of India Hindus were restricted for worshipping their deities and many Hindu temples were destroyed by them. In between 1757 to 1848 the British Government controlled India. By the new rulers, Hindus allowed to practice their religion without any obstacle. Hindu deities are very important for Hindus. Starting period of 1960’s many Hindus moved to North America and Britain and they spread their faith and Hindu philosophies to the western world. The panel of India took place in the year 1947. 

The great leader of the India Gandhi was assassinated in the year 1948, at this time British India split Pakistan as a separate country. This is the reason the majority of Hindus live in India. There are four main castes people in order for their duties. Bhramin to the priest and to do the rituals, Shatrriyas for protecting people, vaishyas skilled workers, Sudras are the unskilled labourers. But all the above caste systems are changed even before many hundred years ago. Now everyone can take any work. Diwali: the festival of lights Navaratri: a celebration of fertility and harvest Holi: a spring festival Janmashtami: a tribute to Krishna’s birthday Raksha Bandhan: a celebration of the bond between brother and sister Mahashivaratri: the great festival of Shiva all the above things are Hindu festival days and people get holidays for these days.
